FAQs

Not just okay - exactly right. This isn’t about showing off a curated version of your life. It’s about capturing what it really feels like to live with these wild little people you love. The mess, the noise, the weird rituals and snack chaos - that’s your family’s texture and rhythm and heart.
If your house is lived-in, if your kids are loud, if someone has marker on their face and no one knows how long it’s been there - that’s not a problem, that’s memories. That’s exactly why you choose me. I’m not coming in to fix or stage anything. I’m there to notice what’s already beautiful.

It’s not posed, but it’s not a time lapse of your day either. I’m not always directing, and I’m not just following - but I am always working.
Sometimes that means quietly documenting the magic already unfolding. Sometimes it means giving a little direction to help the light hit just right, or guiding you into a moment you might’ve missed in the middle of the usual chaos. You don’t need to be “on” for me - I’ll do the work of watching, adjusting, composing, and making sure it feels comfortable as much as it looks good.
Bottom line- you don’t need to perform.

When you book, I’ll send over a personalized no-pressure prep guide - not a list of must wear outfits or a mood board, but a few things that’ll help you feel good walking into the session. I’ll offer a couple of tips about what photographs well and what might get in the way (like clothes that aren’t comfortable or colors that reflect awkward light), but it’s designed to make your life easier, not harder. If it feels like you, it’ll photograph like you - and that’s exactly what we’re after.

Short answer: do whatever makes you comfortable. Some people are fine with legos on every surface and laundry piles on the chairs, others feel better with a quick tidy. Either way, I’ve worked in homes of every shape, size, and level of lived-in, and I promise I’m not there to judge your housekeeping. Only do what makes you comfortable with your family, and not guests. If your home feels like your family, it’s already perfect for photos.
If an field trip is the plan for your session, we can plan that together! But it’s usually not needed.

Oh, it’s not an if, it’s a when. And the answer is… nothing. No stress, no apologizing, no bribes, (unless it’s for yourself). I’ve photographed mid-screams, mid-mud-puddle, mid-tantrum-over-their-favorite-blue-cup-still-being-blue moments and honestly? Those photographs often end up being the ones families love most. I’ll quietly read the room and grab what matters. You just keep being a family.

Not exactly - but not because I forgot.
I don’t stage traditional “everyone-look-here-and-smile” portraits, because they break the flow of a session that’s built on real connection. But that doesn’t mean you won’t have frame-worthy images of your family all together.
Most galleries include one or two camera-aware moments - environmental portraits that come from something honest: a pause, a glance, a shared look. They aren’t posed, but they are intentional. I use your home, your light, your treasures, and the way your people fit together to make images that are strong, real, and beautiful in a way a forced smile never is.
Everything in your gallery will be something you can print, gift, or treasure - even if no one is standing still. And if you need a classic portrait for something specific, I’m happy to refer you to someone who loves making them. I just know what I do best, and I want to give you the full magic of that.
I travel to you. Sessions that take place inside the Albuquerque area are free of travel fees.
